I just read some info on risks associated with flu vaccine. While vaccines have many great benefits, for large scale public health and at risk populations, they have also been the source of much recent controversy. I think it is more important than ever, given the increasing number of vaccinations we are giving our children and ourselves, to understand the risks as well as the benefits.
If you are considering a vaccine or a series of vaccines for you or your child, check out some of these sites for both sides of the story:
National Vaccine Information Center
Vaccine Risk Awareness Network
Vaccine Information for the Public
Also, for those in Minnesota, please remember that we all still have the legal right to decide if, when, and which vaccines we want for ourselves and our children. Kids do not need to be vaccinated to attend school in MN – just flip the vaccination form over and fill out the back side.
I just left a meeting with a doula client who is planning a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). I shared the following information about cesarean support groups in the Twin Cities with her and we had a great discussion about planning for her next birth.
ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc.) holds monthly meetings. Contact the Twin Cities chapter, or check out www.ican-online.org for more information.

Just found this website http://www.laptoplunches.com/ideas.html#bored with some great ideas for kids lunches. I thought I was coming up with some pretty good ideas for my daughter’s lunches for a while, but when things got busy my food creativity took a nose dive. The site also sells little bento type lunch boxes, which are cute, but I try to steer clear of storing, and especially heating food in plastics due to the potential leaching of substances into the food. Individual Pyrex containers work nicely.
I am continually amazed at the benefit that this work (chiropractic and cst) has on people. I had the pleasure of treating a group of families up in central Minnesota yesterday while filling in for another doctor. Most of the families had received chiropractic care before, but hadn’t had any of the cranial work done. I saw infants, toddlers, young children, their parents and grandparents. Problems ranged from colic to dizziness, structural misalignments of the jaw to musculoskeletal pain and learning difficulties. The results from my perspective were dramatic – joints moving better, less restricted fascia and more balanced bodies. Some patients had immediate pain relief, with others we’ll need to wait to see how the work affects their symptoms. It was a great privilege to be welcomed into these patients homes and entrusted with the care of their families.
