Chiropractic Care and Sacral Occipital Technique
The essence of chiropractic lies in the body’s natural ability to heal itself. When the brain and body are able to communicate well with one another, this natural healing ability is optimized. Chiropractic care identifies areas of the spine that are restricted and causing interference to the nervous system’s communication. Specific adjustments to those areas restore movement and reduce nerve interference which improves body function.
Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) is a specific form of chiropractic that not
only identifies restrictions in the spinal column but also in the dura that covers the brain, spinal cord and each nerve as it exits the spine. SOT also helps to restore balance to the muscles of the body.
SOT is a comprehensive and adaptable system of evaluation and treatment. Adjustments are tailored to each person and vary from light pressure over specific points to a more traditional adjustment. It is also a natural complement to craniosacral therapy, which addresses the dura (also known as fascia) in a different way.
